Lackey Clinic is a faith-based nonprofit providing free and charitable healthcare to uninsured adults in Virginia. Our patients are the working class, usually earning between $12-$25 an hour, who earn too much to qualify for Virginia Medicaid but not enough to afford quality health insurance. We offer primary and specialty medical care, dental care, eye care, virtual care, medications, behavioral health services, chronic disease management, and spiritual care.
All these services are given to Lackey Clinic’s patients as donated care. The costs are paid for through generous partnerships, donations, and grants, as well as voluntary patient contributions and dental admin. fees. Time is gifted by over 250 skilled volunteers combining to donate nearly 14,000 hours each year to help patients.
The Clinic’s partnerships include charity care agreements with all three local hospital systems. By providing continuity of care for the uninsured, our Clinic helps the hospitals reduce emergency room usage, and in return, the hospitals provide our patients with services beyond our Clinic’s capability—surgeries, mammograms, pathology and cytology labs, x-rays, imaging, and in-hospital care at no cost.
Through charity care agreements, volunteers’ time, and partnerships which help obtain medications for the patients, Lackey Clinic provides over $20M in total value—turning every $1 of donations and grants into $8 of services.
