Bank of America Award
We are excited to announce that Lackey Clinic is a winner of the 2019 Bank of America Neighborhood Builders award! The award is given each year to nonprofits who are advancing economic mobility and providing leadership to solve tough community challenges. Each Neighborhood Builders awardee receives a two-year, $200,000 grant and a year of leadership training for the Executive Director and an Emerging Leader.
Bank of America created the Neighborhood Builders program in 2004 to help nonprofits make a bigger impact by building leadership skills, providing flexible funding, creating an opportunity to access capital, and fostering a peer network of organizations across the U.S. It is one of the nation’s largest philanthropic investments in nonprofit leadership, with $240 million invested over more than 15 years. Each year nonprofits in 49 cities receive the award with two Neighborhood Builders recognized in the Hampton Roads area.
On Wednesday, November 13, the Lackey Clinic and the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center in Virginia Beach were recognized as the 2019 Neighborhood Builders awardees for Hampton Roads. Bank of America Market President, Charlie Henderson said, “Each organization distinguished itself with a deep commitment to addressing scarcity of housing, food, or medical care among the community. Our program strengthens the network of nonprofit leadership who help Coastal Virginia thrive.”
We are grateful to Bank of America for their generosity, and we are honored to receive this award. We are already exploring the many ways we can transform this grant funding and leadership from Bank of America into more quality services for our community. We have begun focusing on possibly expanding our dental and vision services, and we hope to announce and implement our plans in January of the new year!
